EXPERTISE
Marius has been specialising in and writing on labour law, social protection and social security, as well as migration, with a focus also on regional dimensions and comparative contexts. He has been intimately involved in the development and reform of labour law, social protection schemes and systems, and migration policies and legislation and has been rendering comprehensive services to international and regional organisations (ILO, World Bank, EU, ISSA, SADC), to governments, labour market and social security institutions and other stakeholders, and to development agencies and donor institutions involved in social protection (e.g. DFID; GTZ/GIZ). Marius has led a large number of projects in the social protection and migration domains.

National Senior Commissioner: Mediation & Collective Bargaining Commission for Concilation, Mediation and Arbitration: March 2007 – Present
Head the Mediation and Collective Bargaining department of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). Responsible for the development and implementation of the CCMA’s mediation strategy with a specific focus on labour dispute resolution at a national level. Have successfully mediated significant disputes of national interest.
Serve on the Executive Committee of the CCMA which is responsible for the management of the organisation. In addition, chair the following committees; Strategy Committee, Bid Adjudication Committee, Training Layoff Advisory Committee and the Board of Trustees of the Provident Fund.
Involved in labour dispute resolution since 1999, as a Part-time Commissioner based at the CCMA’s Durban office.
